"Both more floral and racier than previous examples, the 2003 Axios shows forward aromas of dark plum, blueberry, violet, camphor flowers, vanilla and earth. On the palate it is firmer and medium in body, but quite flavorful, reminding somewhat of a fine vintage of Opus One. The flavors of blackberry, blueberry, plum, cedar, vanilla, toast and hints of camphor linger well, picking up just a bit of resistance from tannin. Expect it to grow more complex over the next few years, although waiting is not really necessary."

WINEMAKER NOTES: "Deep, dark magenta color. Concentrated aromas of blackberry, and black cherry highlight the fragrances of this powerfully constructed wine. Dionysianly rich and virile, with robust flavors of blackberry, chocolate and ripe plums that unify in a long, multifaceted finish."
